UPCOMING SEGMENTED PROGRAMMING

Here is what is in development at Retro AOR The Retro Attic Of Rock:

1. Eventually, 12 hours of my daily programmming will be divided into the following segments:

A. 4 hours of 70's, 80's and 90's melodic rock/AOR and hairbands - the major label artists, but primarily deep cuts.
B. 2 hours of 80's and 90's traditional metal, covering NWOBHM, speed/thrash, progressive and melodic.
C. 2 hours of classic rock - Led Zep, Boston, Foreigner, etc. as well as the bigger hairbands' most well-known hits.
D. 2 hours of 80's/90's indie AOR - Your local bands that played the clubs and put out CDs or cassettes, but never made it past that stage. Some of those CDs command insane prices now!
E. 1 hour of 90's alternative rock - Say what you want about that decade and scene, but I have a bigger respect for it 20-25 years later than when I initially complained that it was killing the music that I grew up with!
F. 1 hour of "New Retro Sounds" - Rock bands that are carrying on the flame of yesteryear, whether they're the legendary bands themselves or new bands influenced by the legends. You won't hear anything older than 1 year ago in this segment.

I'm looking to have this segmented programming air everyday from 8 AM to 8 PM eastern. The other 12 hours of the day will be a big melting pot of all of these various sounds.

2. Two weekends a month, I will be counting down an album rock tracks chart from yesteryear. This will be of particular interest to 80's rock lovers. I'm thinking it could air on Friday night(9 PM, perhaps) and be repeated on Sunday night.

I do this on my oldies station, so why not a rock station too...how about a Featured Artist Of The Month? Once an hour, every hour...you would hear either a classic cut or a deep cut from this artist. I'm taking suggestions now, so name me your favorite hairband and/or classic rocker that you feel deserves this status!

I also have a live chat/live request bubble in the top right corner of my webpage. Click on it, fill out a quick form telling me who you are, and voila, you will be in touch with me in a moment! You always used to wonder if radio stations actually received your requests or even cared about them...well, Retro AOR does, and I can't think of a more convenient way to get your request in!

Our website is located at http://retroaor.blogspot.com. Tell us what you think of these ideas and/or whether it's a waste of time or not! Rock out, roll on!

New adds on Retro AOR The Retro Attic Of Rock:

2. Zoot - Eleanor Rigby - 1970 - An interesting hard rock take on the Beatles' classic

9. Heavens Edge - Skin On Skin - 1990 - Was there such a thing as a bad hard rock band from Philadelphia?
10. Living Colour - Middle Man - 1988 - This was out before Cult Of Personality, and MTV initially had no idea how to categorize them

TODAY'S NEW ADDS

The number of today's new adds is something that a girl named Christine might appreciate: 16(I did add that particular song to a 1977 block on my oldies station, in case you were wondering)! Included are requested Lion, requested classic Cinderella, Paul Dean(the Loverboy guitarist), Gun(the late 80's/early 90's Scottish rock band, not the late 60's British band), Chainsaw(mid 80's German metal), Circus(an early 70's power pop band from Cleveland, but some of their tracks were mostly on the rockin' side of things), Madam X, Wrabit, Aviator(mid 80's AOR featuring a couple of the guys from the late 60's rockers The Illusion), Luis Cardenas, Femme Fatale, Tyketto, Sea Hags, Tim Karr(doing a tune later done by Blue Tears), Baxter Robertson(80's hi-tech AOR), and Thin Lizzy(in honor of St. Patrick's Day). I'm also beginning to add some sound effects and drops into the mix, just for a little pizzazz. If you want to be "on the road to rock," then feel free to visit us at http://retroaor.blogspot.com and access one of our pop-out media players; we also have an icon link to our Tunein.com listing. Requests are always accepted and you can check out some of my favorite classic videos on our page.

TODAY'S NEW ADDITIONS TO THE PLAYLIST

10 more additions to the playlist so far today, consisting of barnburners you know and some that you don't(but should!). This includes requested Savatage and Crimson Glory, 707, Jackyl, brand new Scorpions, Ace Lane, Coney Hatch, McAuley Schenker Group, D.R.I., and Teer(one of my favorite Florida bands - they sounded like a harder version of Firehouse). Put on your old arena rock concert t-shirt(if you can - most of them shrunk to nothing after only one wash) and crank up Retro AOR, The Retro Attic Of Rock! Visit us at http://retroaor.blogspot.com or search for us on Tunein.com. Apps for Itunes, Blackberry and Google Play through our partnership with Nobex Radio will be available any day now!

New Adds For Thursday 2/26

New adds for Thursday on Retro AOR: Havana Black(a Finnish band with a sound that fans of Bad Company and Thunder would like), The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Steel Breeze(a little pomp AOR never hurt anyone!), Junkyard, The Screaming Jets, RTZ, Starz, New England, Saraya, and GTR. Visit our webpage at http://retroaor.blogspot.com to tune in and use our form for sending in requests(or send me a message with your request through the beige chat box located just below our Recent Tracks Played widget). These were bands that I was a big fan of during the 70's, 80's and early 90's, and countless hours of MTV viewing played a big part too. If you miss arena rock's glory days as much as I do, then give us a listen for a little while!
